Of Moles and Musicals

Yesterday I endured a painful mole removal and a musical. I'm still stinging from the musical.

Is the ability to enjoy musical theater something you are born with, like earlobes that dangle or a tongue that rolls? Or is it an acquired taste, like stinky cheese?

I wish someone could just club me on the head and I'd wake up loving musicals, because as I was slinking ever lower in my chair until only my spine rested in the seat, everyone around me seemed to be having the time of their lives.

Thinking its something you were born with or not...music just isn't your thing! I love 'em!

Some musicals are just way better than others. I've had the same experience.
And yikes on the mole. Glad it's gone.
Have a great weekend!

Musicals. You either love them, or you don't.

I'm going "The Pajama Game" this weekend. It's my almost-favorite, second only to "Cabaret."

What did you suffer through yesterday?

I have to say that I love musicals but some should have never graced the stage. I really like movie musicals. Momma Mia was good.

I'm embarassed that I used to be obsessed with musicals when I was younger, like 11-14 years old. Now, though, some of them seem so cheesy that they're embarassing and uncomfortable to watch.

We went to see Spamalot a couple of weekends ago with RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN (!) and it was really, really funny, esp. if you like Monty Python. Highly recommended b/c it actually makes fun of musicals.

Maybe you just haven't found your kind of musical out there. Don't go see Cats. It has no plot.

You would have made a terrible gay man!
I LOVE musicals, almost all of them...only walked out once -- Cat's (yikes, it was BAD)
When they are good they move me to tears or absolute joy, and yes, some of them should not be staged and are embarrassing.

I'm sorry I didn't take Juliet, and let you play with Hank. I LOVE live stage in almost any form (unless it is depressing), and I loved Mama Mia, and Cats! Maybe this was a bad one, did Juliet like it?

The best way to experience a musical is in 15 second clips. Just enough time to experience the camp without being touched by the genre's inherent soullessness.

I'm with ya Christy. I can hardly stand to go to my kids music programs at school. How horrible is that??? Suffered through the entire show of the Producers and vowed never to return again.
