This Concerns Me

While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles. At the same time, draw the number 6 in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction and there's nothing you can do about it.

This bothers me far more than I want it to.

Don's whole family tried it, and Elaine came up with a way -- draw the 6 from the inside out (but that's cheating), so Betsy finally did it by s-l-o-w-l-y drawing the 6. It works!

I drew the six with little trouble. Maybe I'm weird? I can also do that thing where you pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time.

Hmm, this makes me even more concerned.

I couldn't keep my foot going clockwise no matter how slowly I drew the six...

Our family clearly doesn't have enough to do

That's bizarre! I couldn't keep my foot from going counterclockwise, either.

This is the devil's work.

Haha, I was cracking up trying to get it to work. I had high hopes for myself, too, because I can do the whole patting head/rubbing tummy thing, and the twirling your two index fingers opposite ways.

But nope! Not this one.

I don't claim to be coordinated in any way, but I tried. I really tried. I couldn't do it! This IS bothersome.

That is wierd.

Ahaha, totally can't do it! Damn!

Oh my gosh! How fun and bizarre! We are all sitting here trying this and can NOT do it! aarrgghh!

That would be a great opener for a school visit - to get the kids to try it :-)

I can do it. Maybe it's cuz I'm left handed and can also do a lot of the pat your head/rub your tummy tasks with no difficulty. Hmm.

i could do it - of course it took me 6 hrs. ;) i could only do it if I stuck out my tongue though. dont ask my why

are you trying that now? tee hee

Christy Raedeke said...

Way to make me look like an idiot, Shelli! Excellent!

Cathy - can you do it with your left hand and foot? I think ambidextrians are wired differently.

For those that CAN do it, I'm just curious...are you more the "artistic" type...like drawing, photography, crafts? I'm thinking it all depends on which side of the brain you are using. Just a guess. I can't do it because I see that I'm "writing" with both my foot and finger. But maybe someone that is drawing with one and writing the other can do it?

I'm sorry...I'm kind of bored and LOVE to think about weird stuff. :)

After Cathy's comment, I tried it with my left hand and could do it. Yay, haha. Maybe it's because I used to be left handed, I dunno.

btw, I am NOT the artistic type at all. I'm probably the worst drawer (I say drawer because the word artist is far beyond me) you have ever seen. Don't know what that says about your theory, but I figured I'd add it to the pile of evidence. :)

Yes...cannot do it with my right hand NO matter what I try, but easily with my left - weird. BTW, have trouble moving my left foot in a clockwise circle (comes out more like an oval) even without doing anything else at the same time.

Flipping freaky, man.

Despite reading your thoughts, and the thoughts of your readers, I signed myself and 1 daughter for the torture of making it work.
No can do and now I'm afraid my daughter will be working on it all night~
Have a great weekend

I managed to do it once, but it was hard. I can do it no problem if I use my right foot though...maybe its cause I'm lefty.

Graeme--- he's in an institution now... he says he'll do it! He's obsessed.
Pray for him.

I was able to do it if I slowed down A LOT.
