Tears and Coffee

Today was Hank's first day of kindergarten!

Now I have two kids at the same school—a first!

Since we're just two blocks from Bellview it's a nice little walk.

I admit I teared up a little as I said goodbye. The teacher's aide helped me with some distraction so I could leave without making a scene. However, tears turned to joy when I went for coffee with Mom right after drop off.

How can you be sad around such a beautiful vehicle for caffeine? The accompanying Tartine with ham and thyme butter was camera shy but equally gorgeous.

Hurray for Hank! Congrats to both of you for taking these new steps. Good food and caffeine always helps with transitions.

Congrats to Hank! He looks adorable!

I'm jealous of your coffee...NOBODY around my neck of the woods makes coffee that looks like that.

Hank looks so handsome-- and ready to go!

How was his first day?

No doubt, all the kids loved him.

Any time you want to cry into a mug, call me.

Aw! My oldest started kindergarten last week. I bawled my eyes out after reading The Time Traveler's Wife, but no tears watching her get on the bus for the first time. Is something wrong with me?

Do I have to come all the way to your house to get such a gorgeous cup of coffee??? I'm lucky if the Starbucks people get my order right at the drive-through!

And YAY for you and for Hank!!!! :)

He's really cute!

I followed the bus on the first day of my son's kindergarten -- and I wasn't the only mom who did that.

It's not really the kids who ever have trouble letting go...

Are you forcing me to comment on your blog by turning off the international service on your phone? Well. It. Won't. Work.

Wait...!!!!

And now I'm hungry.

We had our first day of kindergarten a couple of weeks ago too. It was surprisingly non-traumatic for all involved.
